From playful wiggles to proud graduation moments, this milestone session had it all—and my heart was basically a puddle by the end with this little guy.
I met this sweet family at a charming little park near their home here in the West Valley. I love when locations are personal like that. There’s something extra meaningful about photographing your family in a space where real memories are made every day. This quiet, familiar park turned out to be the perfect backdrop for capturing joy, connection, and the excitement of a big milestone.
The Joy Is in the Wiggles
We kicked off the session by letting this adorable little grad get all his wiggles out. And let me tell you—it paid off. The pure, unfiltered joy that followed? Magic. I’ve learned over the years (both as a mom and a photographer) that the best photos often come when kids are just being themselves. Not posed. Not forced. Just happy.
In fact, one of my favorite images from this session came from an impromptu playground break. That’s right—we hit pause on the “plan,” and let him just play. And boom—one of the sweetest, most authentic moments of the day.
Sometimes, the best shots come when you stop trying so hard and just let the story unfold.
The Power of Play & Personal Touches
Before the shoot, I asked this little graduate to bring a few of his favorite toys—his best buddies—and let me just say: my heart MELTED. Incorporating your child’s favorite things is such a beautiful way to freeze this moment in time. Years from now, those toys might be packed away, but the memories? Forever.
Honestly, it’s the little things that tell the biggest stories. ❤️
Black & White or Color?
Some moments just hit harder in black and white. There’s something timeless and emotional about stripping away the color and letting the feeling speak for itself. In my gallery’s you can switch any color photo to black and white that way you can choose what speaks to you most, but for this session, a few black and white images really stole the show.
What do you think—are you Team B&W or Team Color? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
From the First Snap to the Walk Back
After all the giggles, wiggles, swinging, and posing, we wrapped up with a simple walk back to the car. Nothing fancy—just a small, quiet moment. And yet it hit me hard (because next year my oldest will be graduating from high school and I feel like just yesterday she was graduating from kindergarten too.)
And just like that… he’s off to his next adventure.
It’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. From toddler snuggles to graduation walks, I’m honored to capture every chapter of your family’s story.
