Backyard weddings have a quiet way of reminding everyone what a wedding is really about. Victoria and Chad were married on December 20, 2025, in the backyard of Victoria’s parents’ home, surrounded by just 25 of their closest friends and family members. I was hired by Victoria’s mom, Amy, and while I hadn’t met the couple prior to the day, the love and intention behind their celebration was immediately clear. This was a wedding rooted in family, simplicity, and being fully present.
The backyard itself was the perfect setting—beautiful, simple and personal. Amy added a handmade backdrop that framed the ceremony space and made it feel both intimate and meaningful. The ceremony began around 12:40pm, with perfect winter weather that allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the moment. There was no rush, no distractions—just a small group gathered together to witness something deeply personal.
One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony came when Victoria turned to look at her mom and dad. The expression on her face captured gratitude, love, and connection all at once. It was a quiet moment, but one filled with meaning—exactly the kind of moment that defines intimate weddings. Those unscripted exchanges are often the most powerful parts of the day.
After the ceremony, the relaxed energy continued. Chad and his family had prepared the food, which added another layer of warmth and togetherness to the celebration. Guests lingered, talked, and laughed, and the day unfolded naturally. One of my favorite moments to photograph was Victoria with her uncle—the closeness between them was undeniable and came through beautifully in the images.
The wedding concluded with the release of butterflies, a simple and symbolic ending to a meaningful day. Victoria and Chad’s backyard wedding was a reminder that weddings don’t need to be large or elaborate to be deeply special. Intimate backyard weddings, justice of the peace ceremonies, and elopements create space for connection, emotion, and moments that truly last.
