There are some seniors who are just quietly special—and Lily is absolutely one of them.
Lily is graduating from WestView High School, and she’s the kind of girl who is sweet and a little reserved at first… but once she opens up, her personality shines. She’s involved in dance, Girl Scouts, and has an interest in the medical field, which I love because it really shows how well-rounded and driven she is.
One of my favorite things about Lily’s session was how personal she made it. She brought along her three favorite books, her dance jackets, and even her trophies and medals. Those little details always tell such a bigger story, and it made her gallery feel so her.
A Location She Trusted Me With
When we first started planning, Lily mentioned she loved the idea of flowers and water—but wasn’t totally sure where to go. I asked her to trust me on a location I had been wanting to use, and I’m so glad she did.
We ended up shooting in Avondale at a spot that has the most beautiful mix of elements—soft flowers, a water feature, textured buildings, and the kind of golden light photographers dream about. It was quiet, not crowded at all, and gave us so much variety without having to move around a ton.
This is exactly why I love being a Phoenix senior photographer—I get to match my seniors with locations that truly fit their vibe while also making the experience easy and relaxed.
Outfits + Personal Style
Lily brought three outfits, which I always recommend:
- A white dress paired with pink high-top Converse (such a fun combo)
- Jeans with a black tee and cherry Converse for a more casual, trendy look
- Her dance outfit with her jacket
And of course, we incorporated her books, dance gear, and awards throughout the session. Those touches are what take Arizona desert senior photos from pretty… to meaningful.
Golden Hour Magic
We planned her session during golden hour over spring break, and everything just came together perfectly. No crowds, no stress, and the lighting was honestly chef’s kiss.
I knew from the very first shot that this session was going to be something special. Sometimes you just get that feeling—and Lily made it easy.
Because she’s a dancer, we leaned into movement for part of her session, and those images ended up being some of my favorites. There’s something about combining posed portraits with natural movement that creates such a beautiful, editorial feel—almost like a downtown Phoenix senior session, but with a softer, more natural twist.
The Experience
Even though Lily is on my Creator Team, she still started off just a little bit shy—which is totally normal. But it didn’t take long before she relaxed, laughed, and really stepped into her confidence.
When she saw her final images, she said, “The pictures came out amazing,” and honestly… that’s always the goal.
For Future Seniors
If you’re planning your own senior session, here are a few quick tips:
- Bring at least 3 outfits (dressy, casual, and something that feels you)
- Don’t be afraid to bring props that matter to you
- Trust your photographer (we’ve got you!)
- And be open—some of the best moments happen when you just go with it
Fall is also an amazing time to schedule your session. The weather is better, and things don’t feel as rushed as the busy end-of-year season.
Why I Love Sessions Like This
I loved everything about Lily’s session—she’s truly a rockstar and so fun to photograph.
Senior photography means a lot to me, especially because I have a senior myself and I lead a Girl Scout troop of high school girls. I get this season of life, and I know how important it is to capture it in a way that feels real and meaningful.
