Frequently Asked Questions About Family Photography Sessions

Family photography clients tend to have a lot of the same concerns: timing, outfits, kids, locations, and what to expect. Here are answers to the most common questions I get.
The best time for family photos in Phoenix is October through April, when the weather is cooler and the desert landscape is at its most beautiful. During these months, we can comfortably shoot outdoors while taking advantage of Arizona’s incredible golden sunsets. If you’re hoping to use your photos for holiday cards, I recommend scheduling your session in October or early November so you’ll have plenty of time to receive your gallery and order prints. Family sessions are available year-round, and during the warmer months we’ll simply schedule your session closer to sunset or at a studio for the most comfortable temperatures and the best natural light.
A standard family session lasts up to 60 minutes at one outdoor location. This gives us plenty of time to capture a variety of combinations, including the whole family, siblings, parents together, and individual portraits of the kids. I keep sessions relaxed and fun, allowing time for little breaks, candid moments, and genuine interactions. My goal is to create natural, joyful images without making anyone feel rushed.
Your family session includes 25 professionally edited digital images delivered through a private online gallery. You’ll be able to easily view, download, and share your images with family and friends. If you fall in love with more than 30 photos (and many families do!), you’ll also have the option to purchase additional edited images.
Your family session includes up to six immediate family members. If you’d like to include additional immediate family members, the fee is $20 per person beyond the included six. Planning to include grandparents, cousins, or multiple households? I’d love to help! Larger groups and sessions at specialty locations may require additional fees, and travel fees may apply depending on the location.
