When I was asked to take photos for country western singer Benny Ratiu’s website, I was over the moon excited. I had photographed his family at BJ Ranch before, so when he told me he wanted to return there for his personal branding photos, I knew it was the perfect match.
If you haven’t been to BJ Ranch in Buckeye, it’s a gem. The owners, Brian and Jamie, have built the most incredible western-inspired set pieces — a tack store, a jail, a hotel, a saloon, and even a wagon from the 1800s. Everywhere you turn, there’s another backdrop begging to be photographed. And the sunsets? Pure Arizona magic.
One of my favorite parts of the session was watching Benny completely relax in front of the camera. He was a natural — confident, expressive, and genuinely himself. As the light shifted, we ended the session on the road, capturing him against a glowing Arizona sunset. It was the perfect close to a session that blended artistry, personality, and place.
Branding photography is so different then a family photoshoot because it encompasses so many of the little details that are required for a website and social media as you can see from the photos above that range from a close up of Beni’s face to his hands playing a guitar. This shoot was also such a reminder of how versatile photography can be. From families to graduates to branding sessions for creatives, every story deserves to be told in a way that feels true.
