Top 8 Questions Moms of High School Girls Might Have About a Photographer’s Creator Team

If you’re the mom of a high school girl and you’re hearing your daughter talk about joining a “creator team” with a photographer (hi, that’s me), you probably have a lot of questions. Totally valid ones.

Let me walk you through the top 8 questions I get from moms—because if I were in your shoes, I’d want answers too.

Q. “What exactly is a Creator Team?”

A. Great question. It’s not a modeling agency, not an influencer brand, and not a mentorship program—though it borrows from all three. My Creator Team is a positive, creative community for high school girls to connect, express themselves, and build confidence through photoshoots, team events, and fun styled concepts.

Q. “What’s the time commitment?”

A. In the world we live in it’s pretty low on the commitment scale. On average, it’s a commitment of about one session every other month, with optional pop-up shoots and meetups. I understand these girls have lives filled with sports, AP classes, Girl Scouts, and social chaos. The expectation is that they make half of the photoshoots. Then they will have as little or as much time dedicated to picking out outfits.

Q. “How much does this cost?”

A. I’m all about transparency. There’s an initial cost (which covers their styled sessions, team welcome kit, and other perks), and beyond that, there may be locations that the girls will need to pay to get into depending on if they vote for a particular shoot. An example would be the AZ State Fair but if that is not in your budge they can opt out so no worries. I’ll lay it all out up front as much as I know ahead of time so you can plan accordingly.

Q. “Do the Creators have to post on social media?”

A. Nope. It’s encouraged if they want to, but never required. Some girls love building a creative feed and being tagged in photos—they’re into the content creation side. Others want to enjoy the experience without the online aspect, and that’s completely okay (AKA my own daughter).

Q. “What does my daughter get out of this?”

A. So much more than cute photos (though yes, there will be plenty). My goal is to have her gain confidence, friendships, and creative freedom. I’ve seen girls grow out of their shells, develop pride in who they are, and walk away from sessions glowing.

Q. “What kind of outfits and styling is involved?”

A. We keep things fun and age-appropriate. Each shoot has a theme, and girls are given guidance on what to wear (and where to shop without breaking the bank; starting with their own closet). Think trendy, inclusive, and totally authentic to their personality.

Q. “Who else is on the team?”

A. It is my desire that each team is a beautiful mix of girls from different high schools, grades, and backgrounds. I look for girls who are kind, inclusive, and bring good energy—not just “camera-ready” looks. These are teammates who cheer each other on and make each session feel like a party. Each season will bring its own group of girls and their personalities into it making each season unique to the group of girls who sign up.

Q. “Will my daughter’s photos be used in ads or marketing?”

A. Yes, this is the premise of the KVP Creator Team. If your daughter is a part of the team, you will be required to sign a contract stating that you give your permission for me to use, select photos on my website or social media to promote future teams or sessions.
